Sandwich Cookie – Free Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Published by

on

So, I have been crocheting like there is no tomorrow. And slowly I have been working on creating my own patterns – which is very exciting to me. This one is a rather silly Sandwich Cookie – based on a Jammie Dodger or a Shrewsbury depending on what part of the world you are in.

Mr Cookie

There will be a video tutorial for this pattern loaded up here on my YouTube channel. (Early visitors may need to return to the pattern to access this depending on upload times and speeds) and an interactive pattern over here on Ribblr.

His jammy filling

You can use any yarn and crochet hook that are the right size for each other. Check the sizes on your yarn ball. I used a plush yarn (Like this one here) and a 7mm hook. If you use smaller yarn (DK/worsted) and a smaller hook (3.5mm), this cookie will come out in a more realistic size as ‘play food’ – just leave off the eyes and face.

You will need to know how to do the following:
– Single crochet (SC)
– Half double crochet (HDC)
– Slip stitch (SS)
– Magic ring / Magic circle (MC)
– Front Loop Only (FLO)
– Back loop only (BLO)
– Changing colours

You will need:
– 1 ball of yarn in light brown/beige or whatever colour you want your cookie to be
– 1 ball of the same sized yarn in red (or whatever colour for the filling).
– Crochet hook to match the size of the yarn
– Darning needle
– Stitch marker
– Optional – safety eyes in a size to match your desired face, stuffing, black yarn for eyebrows.

Sandwich Cookie Crochet Pattern

  1. MC 6 single crochet in red.
  2. Change to brown. Increase in every stitch – 2 single crochet in each – 12 stitches
  3. 1 SC, inc – 18 stitches
  4. 2 SC, inc – 24 stitches
  5. In front loops only – In the same stitch HDC and a SS, ss – repeat these over each pair of stitches creating a ruffle on the edge of the cookie.
  6. In Red yarn, single crochet on the BLO of the previous row. This creates the Jam filling.
  7. Complete steps 1-5 again with brown yarn only as the back of the cookie.
  8. Add the eyes to the front of the cookie (optional)
  9. Using the red yarn tail, stitch the red single crochet stitches to the BL of the back of the cookie. Leave a small opening for stuffing if you want to add this. Stuff and stitch closed.
  10. Stitch on a smile and eyebrows (optional)
