Back to School – Pencil Case – Free Knitting pattern

Well, this doesn’t have to be just for pencils, but I figured this would make a cute pencil case…. so I made it.

I have made many of these types of things before – including my recently stolen wallet – which had stood the test of time. I am thinking I will line this one. Perhaps. We will see where the mood takes me.

Either way, this is an easy knit.

You will need:
– DK weight cotton yarn
– 4mm knitting needles
– zip
– Darning needle

Cast on 42 stitches.

The rest of the case is knit in Hurdle stitch (you may know this as something else)
1. Knit
2. Knit
3. Knit 1, purl 1 – repeat over the row
4. Knit 1, purl 1 – repeat over the row

Repeat these 4 rows until you have 20cm of knitting from the cast on edge. Cast off.

Fold in half. Sew the zip along the top – this is a life struggle sometimes. Stitch up the side seams.
