A few years ago I posted about a chunky knit beanie that I called the 1 Hour Beanie…. as it flew by knitting it. This is a Valentines Version of the same hat.
There is an interactive pattern for this beanie free on Ribblr.

You will need:
– Super bulky yarn – in 2 colours.
– 15mm knitting needles – circular.
– darning needle, scissors and a pom-pom.
Cast on 32 (40, 48) stitches
Rows 1-8 (9, 10)
– Knit 1, Purl 1 rib over these rows
Knit 2 (3, 4) rows in the main colour.
Follow the colour work for the chart over the next 8 rows. The chart is numbered for the largest size. However, rows 15-22 on the chart are the correct order for all the sizes. Repeat the chart over each 8 stitches in the row.

Decreasing for the top. These rows begin the count again from this point just for clarity.
1. Knit 2, k2tog – repeat over the row
2. Knit whole row
3. Knit 1, k2tog
4. Knit whole row
5. K2tog over whole row
6. knit whole row
7. k2tog over whole row.
Cut the yarn tail with 30cm remaining. Thread stitches onto the yarn tail and pull tight. Darn in your ends and stitch on a pom-pom at the top.
