Sunflower Turtles – Free Crochet Patterns

You read that right…. Here are 2 patterns for 2 sunflower turtles. One is easier than the other, but I think one of them looks cooler. These are both no-sew. At the end there is a pattern for the “Easy Shell” – which is the same size but without the bobble texture on the centre of the flower.

You will need:
– Green, Brown, Yellow and Orange yarn – I used ZaddyCrafts “A Really Good Chenille” and Hobbii Toucan.
– Crochet hook to match yarn
– stuffing, safety eyes, darning needle

Flippers – in green – make 4

MC – 6sc (6)

Sc, inc (18)

Fold in half. 9 sc around the semi circle.

Head – in green

Shell – start in brown

Change to yellow – Sc BLO (30)

Change to orange – sc BLO

Change to brown – BLO 2sc, 2sc through fin, 4sc, 2sc through fin, 3sc, 2sc through head opening, 3sc, 2sc through fin, 4sc, 2sc through fin, sc to end

2sc, dec (18) stuff the turtle

Sc, dec (12) 

Dec (6)

FO – use yarn tail to close the turtle

Orange petals. 

Repeat in the FLO of the orange row 

Stitch 1 – ss

Stitch 2 – sc, hdc, dc, tc, chain 3, ss into first chain

Stitch 3 – tc, dc, hdc, sc

Repeat these 3 stitches around the orange row until you reach the end. FO, darn in ends.

Yellow Petals

In the FLO of the yellow row, repeat these 2 stitches over the row
Ss, (sc, hdc, dc, ch 3, ss into ch 1, dc, hdc, sc – in stitch 2)

Repeat around the whole yellow row. FO darn in end.

Easy shell with one row of petals

Easy Shell – start in brown

MC – 6 sc (6)

inc – in each stitch (12)

Sc, inc (18)

2sc, inc 24

3sc inc (30)

Change to yellow – Sc BLO (30)

Change to brown – BLO 2sc, 2sc through fin, 4sc, 2sc through fin, 3sc, 2sc through head opening, 3sc, 2sc through fin, 4sc, 2sc through fin, sc to end
