The Knit Guru

As a teacher, I know how many hours are put in behind the scenes to help students achieve their best. Sometimes it’s a simple gift that fills us all with joy. Here’s a quick knit that uses a cute apple motif and scraps of yarn left over from other projects.

You can choose to carry your yarn across the whole work, or wind smaller bobbins of yarn so that you don’t have to deal with floats. This is an easy, beginner chart to start working with colourwork. I recommend doing duplicate stitches for the brown sections rather than dealing with these as colour changes.

You will need:
– DK yarn in brown, red, white and perhaps a background colour
– 4mm knitting needles
– Scissors and darning needle

Cast on 36 stitches.
Knit 2, purl 2 ribbing over 6 rows
Follow the chart for the increases and apple motif
Knit 2, purl 2 ribbing over 6 rows
Cast off

Longer instructions: However there is this warning…. the instructions have been generated from my charting app…. so unfortunately the background colour is missing….
