Gifts for men are always a struggle in my mind. Or at least, a struggle for me with some of the men in my life. Here is a last-minute gift idea for anyone who needs a scarf that can be dressed up or down. I made this with the Metro yarn from Skeinz- which has cool variegated colours based on subway lines around the world. This knits quickly on large needles with a chunky yarn, and has a delightful texture.
You will need:
- 6.5mm straight knitting needles
- 5 balls of 12ply chunky yarn – this was around 500m of yarn
- Darning needle
Cast on 28 stitches
Row 1: Knit all the stitches
Row 2: Purl 2 together, without slipping these stitches off the left needle, purl the first stitch. Slip both stitches onto the right needle.
Repeat the 2 rows until you finish the 5 balls.
Cast off
You can choose to knit less so you can make tassels for the ends.
