Takeaway Coffee Cozy – Free Knitting Pattern

This cup cozy fits over a take away cup… as it helps keep the drink warm, and prevents burning ones hands on a drink that is just short of scalding. I used to make these to sell during markets, and they were popular on cold days.

This cozy is knitted in the round on 4 needles.

You will need:
– 4mm double pointed needs (or alternatively you can use circular)
– DK yarn
– Darning needle, scissors
– Optional charms

Cast on 36 on 4mm dpn with DK yarn- 12 on each of 3 needles.

Rib 8 rotations – k2, p2 Knit 4 rotations

K8, k1 front and back, repeat 3 more times. You will now have 40 stitches.

Knit 4 rotations.

K9, k1 front and back, repeat 3 more times. You will now have 44 stitches.

Knit 4 rotations Rib 7 rows- k2, p2

Cast off continuing the k2, p2 pattern.

Darn in your tails.

You can sew on embellishments at this point. I like to stitch on a charm.
