Years ago, I released the pattern for the One Hour Beanie. Then I got requests for a video tutorial.

Now I have a flat knitted version for you.
You will need:
– super chunky yarn – weight 6 yarn
– 9mm knitting needle
– Darning needle
– optional pom pom – I used one of these fur ones from this pattern
And there is a Youtube Video tutorial available here:
Cast on 40 (44, 48) stitches
Knit 1, Purl 1 – repeat this over the whole row for a 1×1 rib.
Complete 12 (14, 16) rows of ribbing
Stockinette stitch 20 (22, 24) rows
Change colours (this is optional, so feel free to carry on without colour changing)
Stockinette stitch 2 rows
Shaping the crown
Knit 2, knit 2 together – repeat over the whole row
Purl 1 row
Knit 1, knit 2 together – repeat over the whole row
Purl 1 row
Knit 2 together over the whole row
Purl 1 row
Knit 2 together over the whole row.
Cut yarn with 30cm yarn tail remaining. Thread this through the remaining stitches and pull tight. Stitch the top of the hat closed. Fold the hat in half and stitch up the sides of the beanie. Fasten a pom pom to the top. I made one of these – which takes about 10 minutes.
