Daffodil Brooch Knitting Pattern

With all of this wintery-ness going about, I wanted some spring cheering up. I’m tempted to yarn bomb the garden with these things.


You will need scraps of orange and yellow dk yarn, and size 4mm needles.

Cast on 10 stitches with orange wool on size 4mm needles.
Stst 4 rows.
Change to yellow
Stst 6 rows
Knit in front of stitch, yo, knit in back of stitch. Do this over whole row. There are now 30 stitches.
Purl row
Cast off

Petals – make 6 in yellow, leaving them on the needle.
Cast on 1.
Knit in front and back of this stitch.
Purl
Knit in front and back of both stitches
Purl
Slip 1, Knit in front and back of 2 stitches, knit 1
Purl
Slip 1, k1, Knit in front and back of 2 stitches, knit 2
Stst 5 rows
Slide petal onto back of needle

With 6 petals on the needle, change to orange yarn.
Stst 2 rows.
K2 together over whole row
Slip each stitch onto cut off yarn, pull to tighten.

Stitch together, adding twisted yarn stamen and a pin back.
