Giant Knitting Needles

Giant knitting is clearly all the rage, but the needles are expensive and hard to come by.

Here is a set of instructions I have put together for making your own set.  And do vote please for them in the Instructables contest.  (Thank you in advance).  The long needles are perfect for knitting blankets, and the shorter ones for other projects.  The cable needle is a bonus…. as I have been surprised not to find a giant cable needle anywhere.

For the yarn to knit with them, I completely recommend this one from the New Zealand company Skeinz.  This yarn is fantastic!  I use it on the 25mm needles (instructions to make them are found above).

For the larger needles, I use carded but unspun wool (often called sliver).  You can buy this here from Skeinz… or this super duper yarn from Lincraft.  (This is really simple to knit)

I will write a few patterns up for using these needles.
