7 Day Vegan Challenge Baby (solves all your problems)

Okay, so I realised about 3 weeks ago that I just didn’t feel like eating eggs anymore… I don’t know why. Then I watched a video on YouTube completely unrelated to food where the 7 Day Vegan Challenge Baby (solves all your problems) was covered. I knew it was time. I’ve been thinking I’d end up as a Vegan eventually…. but I love cheese. And milk. And yogurt. Did I mention cheese?

So, I spent a week mentally preparing for this challenge. And here I am… in the challenge. I figured I’ll document it for the week and see how I go.  I’ve been a vegetarian for over 20 years now, so it shouldn’t be a massive step to go vegan.

This morning I had baked beans, ancient grain toast, vegan bacon and a couple of hash browns for breakfast. I also had a nice coffee with professional soy milk ๐Ÿ˜‚ yes, I bought professional soya milk.

I am going to give a shout out to my favourite store – the cruelty free shop in Auckland. Now, I’m at the other end of the island, and rural…. I don’t even think I know another Vegan…. I do have a vegetarian student though, so I’m not alone there. In preparation I ordered Vegan supplies…. a bit of bacon, Vegan cheese, lentil burgers, pies…. and importantly, Vegan peanut butter cups. I do love chocolate.  Anywho… I ordered this stuff, and it arrived in an insulated box on my doorstep. Winning.

First realisation: being Vegan isn’t more expensive. It seems to take mental preparedness, but not more money. Meat is expensive. The husband eats it still, and to be honest, he spends more a week on meat than I did on vegan foods.

If you feel like following along, cool. If you feel like joining in, cool. I’ll keep a bit of an update daily and see how it goes. Either it will be epic, or I will curl up into a ball and cry by Tuesday.

In knitting news, I have a fair few projects in development, but I’ve just had to put them to the side as theatrelife has taken over… I started my Masters, with a theatre project taking up time, producing 2 stage shows (one finished last night, so that’s a bonus), I’m directing a show performing in November, with auditions today, and I’ve written 2 proposals for theatre projects next year… and I have to write a sample script that I haven’t started yet ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
But like the challenge says… this should solve all my problems ๐Ÿ˜‚
