This is a very simple knit… so simple there are 2 options for one basic pattern. This has been a much requested item of late… probably with Halloween, new Fantastic Beasts movies, and probably a minions sequel in the mix.
This simple scarf knits quickly and easily. There is a 2 row repeating pattern.
You will need:
- 5mm straight needles
- Yellow DK Yarn or Black DK Yarn
- Grey DK Yarn
- Crochet Hook for tassels
- Darning needle for ends
Row A: Purl 1, knit 3 – repeat to the end
Row B: Knit 1, purl 1, knit 2 – repeat to the end
Newt Scamander Scarf
Cast on 32 stitches in Grey.
Complete 30 rows alternating between Row A and Row B.
Change to yellow.
Complete 30 rows alternating between Row A and Row B.
Repeat until you have a scarf of almost the length you desire. Then complete 1 more grey section.
Cast off. Darn in your tails.
Use your crochet hook to pull 30cm yarn lengths through the ends as tassels.
Dru Gru Scarf
Basically this is the same pattern, with slight twist. Row A and B are the exact same. Gru’s scarf is narrower than Newt’s one, longer than Newt’s, and the stripes are varied length.
Cast on 28 stitches in Black
Complete 26 rows alternating between Row A and Row B.
Change to Grey
Complete 36 rows alternating between Row A and Row B.
Knit until long enough to go around your neck and down to your knees. Finish on a Black section. Cast off. The Gru scarf does not require tassels.
