Welcome to the first of this series of wash or dishcloth patterns. These are great ways of practising new techniques, or knitting quick projects. I also like to include them with a handmade soap as a quick gift idea. Cleaning cloths also make terrific gag gifts.

You will need:
- 4mm knitting needles
- DK Cotton yarn
- Darning needle
Cast on 39 stitches.
This is a 4 row repeating pattern
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl 3, Knit 1 – repeat to the last 3 stitches – Purl 3
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: Purl

Repeat these rows 14 times.
Knit a row.
Purl 1 row.
Cast off.
You can now either darn in your tails, or take one of the tails, and chain 15 stitches with a crochet hook. Fold this over into a loop and stitch it to the corner to create a hanging loop.
