This game has gone super crazy since the world went into lockdown… and it’s bound to be a hit with the teens and kids this holiday season as well.
So I bring you the crewmate plushie!
These knit up quickly. You’ll need 10 for a full set in different colours….
You will need:
- DK yarn in bright colours and grey
- 4mm needles
- Darning needle
- Stuffing
Body
Cast on 10 stitches in main colour.
Stockinette stitch 8 rows. Cut yarn with a long-ish yarn tail, and slide this leg to the far end of the needle.
Cast on 10 stitches. Stockinette stitch 8 rows.
Slide the 2 legs together, and knit as one unit. Stockinette stitch 18 rows.
To shape the top of the head- knit 2 together, knit 1. Repeat over the whole row until the last 2 stitches, knit these 2 together.
Purl the whole next row.
Knit 2 together over the whole row for the last row. There should be 1 solo stitch at the end, knit this.
Cut the yarn with 30cm remaining. Thread this through the remaining stitches, and pull tight.
Backpack
Cast on 6 stitches in main colour
Knit 1 front and back, knit 1 front and back, knit 2, knit 1 front and back, knit 1 front and back. (10 stitches)
Purl row.
Stockinette stitch 6 rows.
Knit row.
Purl 2 together, purl 2 together, purl 1, purl 2 together, purl 2 together
Cast off. Leave a yarn tail for stitching onto the plushie
Visor
Cast on 5 stitches in grey
Knit 1 front and back, knit 1 front and back, knit 1, knit 1 front and back, knit 1 front and back. (10 stitches)
Stockinette stitch 4 rows ending with a knit row.
Purl 2 together, purl 2 together, purl 1, purl 2 together, purl 2 together
Cast off. Leave a yarn tail for stitching onto the plushie
Sewing up
Fold the body so that the sides create a centre back seam. Stitch up the legs, and down from the top of the head. Stuff. Stitch up the opening.
Stitch the bottom of the backpack to the plushie. Stitch around 3 sides, then stuff a little before closing the 4th side. Do the same with the visor piece on the front.
