This is all at once both super cute, and incredibly pointless, so I love and adore it.
You will need:
- DK (8ply) yarn in Green and Red
- 4mm knitting needles
- Thin elastic (“hat” elastic works the best)
- 2 tiny bells
- Darling needle
- Scissors
Cast on 160 stitches in green. (This will feel like an eternity)
Row 1: knit
Row 2: knit 2 together over whole row (80 stitches remain)
Row 3: knit
Row 4: knit 2 together over whole row (40 stitches remain)
Row 5-8: knit
Cut the yarn with a 20cm yarn tail remaining. Darn this end in.
Cut a length of elastic that is comfortable around your wrist when tied. Thread this through the remaining stitches and tie up.
Bow
Cast on 15 stitches in red.
Row 1: Knit 1, purl 1 – repeat this over the whole row
Row 2: Purl 1, knit 1 – repeat this over the whole row
Repeat these rows until 12 rows are completed. Cast off in pattern.
Tie a length of yarn around the centre of the bow to tie it in at the middle. Stitch this to the hair scrunchie – I like doing this where the elastic ties into a knot. Attach the 2 bells to a length of yarn and stitch behind the bow.
Come back tomorrow for over the top Christmas socks.
