So, what have I been up to?

This has been a busy wee month. I have been up and down around the place with my regular job, never a shortage of things to get done in the performing arts! And then on the needles, also very busy.

The Man Sock pattern was finally released, and already undergoing plenty of wash-dryer and man-foot testing to tweak the pattern further. The plan is to expand the size range. I know there have been a number of questions about the gauge of this one… and I will admit that I have misplaced my gauge ruler and the idea of counting (shock horror) isn’t appealing…. however I will get this one sorted out asap.

I also re-released the baby bootie pattern with a few tweaks and modifications made over the last few years. I hope the new version is as popular as the old one. There is a video for this as well, and a few more things learned in this process.

I have been learning to crochet and currently I am churning out granny squares and working on amigurumi shapes. I am still not hugely good at this but I hope to improve in time.

I did the Westknits Surprise Sockalong and had a great time. I am still working on last years shawl (it may never get finished) and his basketweaver shawl (is further along but it is hundreds of stitches on the row at the moment, and so it is a daunting knit). But the socks were a joy. I will do one again next year if he springs on on us.

I have a baby vest and matching sock set pattern to get ready for release. I do need to sew the buttons on and work out the tweaks in the pattern before this is ready. I was aiming for a one ball pattern set as baby yarn can be quite expensive, and I think I have nailed it.

I have also been working on Ribblr and transferring some patterns over there. It is a bit of a process to do so, but if you are an ipad or tablet user, it is a really nice and easy way to track and follow your digital patterns. I have the Amelia Pond hat listed as a free pattern there if you would like to give it a go. I will expand my pattern portfolio there in time with some of my popular designs over here.

Other than that, it has been so many wips and yarn purchases and thoughts about houses and building a yarn library and mud and being ready for the spring lambs to show up on the farm.

If you want to see my Everything I Knit in July video – it is over here on Youtube.

It’s a great hat! I love Doctor Who so it’s a nice subtle reference as well.

Much more subtle than my enormous scarves for sure 😁 Sometimes it’s nice to wave a more understated fan flag.

Ikr! I have found my replica scarf to be waaaaaay too hard to wear. Learned that the hard way 😂

It can double as a blanket though if required, so there’s that!

True! And a great travel pillow on long haul flights
