In winter I love holding a coffee in my hands, and basically taking a moment to think. Here is a quick knit coffee cozy knit in the round, with a subtle Christmas tree. Make one of these for a quick stocking stuffer or last minute gift idea… include a mug, fancy coffee, or a coffee voucher.
You will need:
- DK Yarn
- 4mm double pointed needles (4)
- darning needle
Christmas Cozy
Cast on 36 on 4mm dpn with DK yarn- 12 on each of 3 needles.
Rib 8 rotations – k2, p2
Knit 2 rotations
Start your tree on this rotation.
Mark the start of the rotation to the end of the first 8 stitches. Your tree will go here. Follow the chart knitting all the white squares and insert a purl for every blue square.
Knit 2 more rotations – carefully including the tree motif.
Third row of the tree motif: K8, k1 front and back, repeat 3 more times. You will now have 40 stitches.
Knit 4 more rotations including the tree motif
Eighth row of tree motif: K9, k1 front and back, repeat 3 more times. You will now have 44 stitches.
Knit final rotation of the tree motif.
Knit 2 more rotations.
Rib 8 rotations – k2, p2
Cast off
You can now darn in your ends. The cozy is reversible at this point, with a tree shape on either side. Optionally you can overstitch the tree stitches for a Scandi style look.
