If you remember last year, I released the Bellsprout hat, and promised that the evolutions would come to create a Weepinbell and Victreebell hats from the same pattern. And here finally is the Weepinbell hat. What I like most about the Weepinbell version, is that it is perfect to cosplay as James from Team Rocket, wear for Halloween, and it looks super cute.

Knit the Bellsprout hat up to the decreasing section, then pop back here to finish the hat from these instructions. You need the same supplies, along with orange and green yarn that you didn’t need before. You will also need double pointed needles and to be able to icord.

Top of the hat decreasing.
Knit 3, knit 2 together – repeat over the whole row.

Knit 2, knit 2 together – repeat over the whole row
Knit one row
Change to beige yarn. Knit 1, knit 2 together – repeat over the whole row.

Knit 2 together – repeat over the whole row
Knit one row
Knit 2 together – repeat over the whole row
Knit 3 together, knit 3 together, knit 4 together- you will now have 3 stitches.

Slip these onto double pointed needles. Icord these 4 stitches over 20 rows. Change to green yarn. You will now begin the leaf section on the end of this icord. (You will make 2 leaves after this separately after this)

Knit 2 rows in orange
Knit 1, Knit 1 without taking off the needle, yarn over, knit the same stitch again (increasing by 2 stitches), knit 1.

Knit 2, Knit 1 without taking off the needle, yarn over, knit the same stitch again (increasing by 2 stitches), knit 2.

Knit 3, Knit 1 without taking off the needle, yarn over, knit the same stitch again (increasing by 2 stitches), knit 3.

Knit 3, Slip 2 together as if to knit, knit 1, Pass slip stitch over (Centre double decrease), knit 3

Knit 2, Slip 2 together as if to knit, knit 1, Pass slip stitch over (Centre double decrease), knit 2

Knit 1, Slip 2 together as if to knit, knit 1, Pass slip stitch over (Centre double decrease), knit 1
Purl 3 together. Cut yarn, thread through the remaining stitch, pull tight.

Leaves.

Cast on 3 stitches in green. Follow the leaf instructions from the “change to orange” from the icord section of the top of the hat. (except knit the separate leaves in green)

Stitch the 2 leaves on the sides of the hat. Darn in your tails.

Optional – over stitch 3 green circles on the top of your hat to create 3 green spots on your Weepinbell.
