Righto- the second piece. This is a sand stitch. You need one of these labelled as piece 2. However, you can make more to turn this into an alternate item.

Cast on 24 stitches on 5.5mm needles in colour 3.

This is a 2 row repeat.

Row 1: knit all stitches.

Row 2: knit 1, purl 1 over the whole row.

Complete these rows over 32 rows. This should make a square – though, you can measure the width, and knit to that length if you prefer.

Cast off leaving long tails.
