Knit August Nights

My birthday present to myself was an escape to Napier to Knit August Nights. This has been a dream of mine for many years, but it never was something attainable until this year. So it was a true joy being able take part and be part of the knitting masterclass.

The event is a 4 day long knitter retreat at Napier’s East Pier Hotel. It’s a beautiful setting, and really lovely people taking part. I sat around knitting with women from all over the country and so many more from overseas. I visited Skeinz – easily New Zealand’s premier knitting store.

What did I learn? Mostly I learned that I just need to trust in myself. I know I have good ideas and that I have the vision to bring them together. I learned that there is a need for things to be replicable for others to work from the patterns. But mostly I learned that I can make new friends, and that is something that I needed to know.

I made a video of all the swag I came away with. Next year I would love to have my Dad and my sister at KAN with me, as I know they both are brilliant makers of tools for knitters… and would have a blast at the market.
