My life has been filled with books of late – so here is an easy, quick tutorial for a cherry bookmark. This makes a great wee gift, market make, stash buster or or quick project. (Instructions in US terms)

The full video tutorial is here:

You will need:
– 4mm crochet hook
– DK yarn in red and green
– Stuffing, darning needle and scissors

  1. 6 sc in a magic ring in red yarn
  2. inc all around (12)
  3. sc, inc – repeat (18)
  4. Sc
  5. sc
  6. Sc
  7. sc, dec – repeat (12) Stuff.
  8. dec – repeat (6) Cut off yarn, and darn in the yarn tail.

Using green yarn, pull through the end of the cherry where we just darned in the end. Chain a length that is 2cm or 1 inch longer than the book spine you want to use. Cut yarn, and pull through the chain.

Repeat to make a second cherry with a green chain that is a little longer than the first one.

Slide the last stitch of the first chain onto the hook with the second chain. Complete 1 single chain through both of the chains – joining them together as one chain.

Chain 10. Turn
Heading back down the chain, in the second chain from the hook slip stitch, then continue down the chain in each stitch as follows – sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc. Turn your work towards the back. Slip stitch into the back loop of the chain. Return up the other side of the green chain as follows – sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc, ss. Cut off your yarn, pull through and darn in the end.
