Pokemon Go – Free Mimikyu Hat Knitting Pattern

Published by

Pokemon Go is still one of my favourite ways to waste time… this morning I caught a Farfetch’d so that was awesome.  I also finally hatched a Porygon (and promptly evolved him to Porygon 2)…. so it has been a good few days.  I do have a whole swag of Pokemon themed hats ready to launch on this site, but when the Halloween release happened, I stopped….. and played Pokemon Go religiously…. then realised that the hat was a total thing that should be done.

So in the game, we can now have our avatar dressed in a Mimikyu hat (such a sad story behind this pokemon).  Why not have art imitate life and where the hat in the real world, while exploring the augmented reality?  This hat is knit circular, and it is a quick knit project.

Ears – make 2

Knit whole row
Knit 2 together, knit 1, knit 2 together (3 stitches)
Knit whole row

Slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over. Cut yarn, thread through remaining stitch and pull tight.

Face

Because of the style of the hat in the Pokemon Go hat, it makes sense to overstitch the colours rather than knit in intarsia. Create 2 orange circles following the chart as cheeks. I started them on the 5th row of the main hat, centred in the section where the flaps meet the brim of the hat.

Do the same for the eyes in black. Raise one eye up higher by 2 rows to create the look. Backstitch the mouth. Use the photos as reference for placing the face.

Stitch the ears onto the hat. One ear should flop down, and one should point upwards.

Thread yarn lengths of about 40cm through the bottom of the flaps. Braid the yarn and tie at the end for the tassels.

I need help reading your Mimikyu hat pattern. I knit the first ear flap and unclear on what to do next. You say to cast on 17 stitches at the end of the (.). Do I do another ear flap and then cast on the 17 stitches? How many stitches are these between the flaps? How many stitches total in the round counting the flaps? Please answer so I can make this hat. Thank you, Mary

Do you possibly have this pattern knitted with 4 needles instead of circular .If so could you please post it or send it to me by e-mail.Thanks. My e-mail is listed below..

Yes. This one is an easy switch. The flaps are knit flat. Cast on the same number of stitches as the circular requires. Then stockinette stitch until the decrease. Purl alternate rows during the decrease section (rather than the instruction to knit a rotation between rows with a k2tog). Then stitch as seam up the back. The ears are knit flat and stitched on after.
